"COMING OF AGE" 21ST Government Recognition celebrations also included Bislama Classes.  Thank you to Earl and Latoya Harbin and Famili for presenting the Classes.  Thank you also to Rae Willie for your assistance and also to those who attended.  Appreciation also to Jackson in Vanuatu, who spoke with Earl, and who was also mindful of what sort of questions we would be asking when we go re-visit Vanuatu.

And so the 21 Years Government Recognition celebrations continued with Deck Chair Cinema last night down at Joskeleigh under the stars run in conjunction with Joskeleigh Community Association who provided a homemade feast fit not just for a king but for our big Island faces and all other guests too.  Also, was able to speak via phone with Filmmaker, Amie Batalisbasi (Solomon Islands heritage).  She resides in Melbourne and Emarson Youse who came from Mackay with his Family and shared about his experience playing 'Young Kiko' .

AUSTRALIAN SOUTH SEA ISLANDERS RECOGNITION EVENT

LOST AT SEA COMMEMORATION 21 August 2021

EMU PARK, QUEENSLAND

It was a big day out yesterday, commemorating our South Sea Islanders that were lost at sea at Emu Park.

Thank you ASSIUC for organising the event and the tireless work by the Committee and volunteers. The BBQ Lunch was delish and great to catch up with friends and family and relax by the sea breeze.

Thank you ASSIMI for having the Trivia, Stew and Damper event at Keppel Sands.

The trivia was a success as well as the delish stews, damper and desserts. Great work by the Committee and volunteers for organising the event.

Australian South Sea Islanders Recognition gatherings were again memorable this year and looking forward to next year. There are ASSI gatherings throughout the year, and always good to see the support given by the Community.
